Overview

India runs on informal trust. A homeowner hires a maid based on the word of a neighbour. A landlord rents a flat based on a single ID copy. A startup onboards a delivery rider with nothing more than an OTP. When that trust breaks — theft, fraud, an unverified driver in a child's school van — the cost is borne entirely by the family or business that took the leap of faith.

Background verification today is fragmented. Large corporates use enterprise BGV vendors like AuthBridge, IDfy and HireRight at ₹1,500–5,000 per check, taking 5–10 days. Individuals, small businesses and homeowners are effectively locked out — they cannot pay enterprise prices or wait a week to confirm a cook's address.

BIDUA's All Human Verification Platform is a consumer- and SMB-first verification utility: 48-hour turnaround, transparent pricing from ₹499, and a single dashboard that combines Aadhaar + PAN matching, police record search, address verification with live geo-tagged photos, employment history, and an optional in-person field visit. The product is the trust layer underneath every other BIDUA service — and a standalone revenue line.

India hires fifty million people a year into homes, offices and vehicles on the strength of a handshake and a smudged photocopy of an Aadhaar. That gap between trust and proof is the entire business.

Why now

The opportunity, on its own terms.

01

DigiLocker and Aadhaar e-KYC are finally production-grade.

The UIDAI offline e-KYC API, DigiLocker document-pull, and NSDL PAN verification are stable and inexpensive. A modern stack can do in 30 seconds what took a field agent three days in 2018.

02

Crime against domestic workers — and by them — keeps making headlines.

NCRB and city-police data show a steady rise in cases involving unverified household staff. Urban families are actively willing to pay for peace of mind.

03

Gig economy needs cheaper BGV.

Zomato, Swiggy, Urban Company, Rapido and dozens of Tier-2 marketplaces onboard millions of workers a year. They need fast, cheap, API-driven verification — not enterprise BGV pricing.

04

Regulatory tailwinds.

The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 forces every employer to handle personal data responsibly. A compliant, audit-logged verification platform becomes a defensive necessity, not a nice-to-have.

Market opportunity

Sized in three rings.

Total addressable
~₹6,500 cr / yr
India BGV market (expected)
Projected CAGR 15% to 2030
Serviceable
~₹2,000 cr / yr (potential)
Consumer + SMB verification
Largely untapped today
BIDUA share aim
5M checks / yr
BIDUA 2030 target if validated
₹250–400 cr revenue potential
  • Indian household help economy: an estimated 50M+ domestic workers, drivers, nannies hired informally each year.
  • Gig workforce: ~10M active delivery and ride-hail workers needing recurring re-verification.
  • Tenant verification: ~12M urban rental transactions annually — most done with zero formal check.
  • Corporate BGV incumbents (AuthBridge, IDfy) clear ~₹2,000 cr combined — proving willingness to pay exists at the enterprise tier.

Business model

How it works, end to end.

01

Tiered verification packs

Basic (₹499) covers Aadhaar + PAN + mobile + face match. Standard (₹1,499) adds address verification with geo-tagged field visit, police record search and previous employer reference. Premium (₹2,999) layers in court-record search, criminal database cross-match and a video interview.

02

Consumer self-serve app

Homeowner pays via UPI, uploads the candidate's ID, candidate completes face + liveness on their own phone. Report delivered to the homeowner inside 48 hours. No sales call, no field agent visit unless escalated.

03

SMB and marketplace API

Volume customers — small staffing firms, housing societies, gig platforms — consume the same checks through a pay-as-you-go API. Tiered pricing from ₹299 per check at 10,000+ monthly volume.

04

Verified passport for individuals

A worker who has been verified once carries a portable, time-stamped BIDUA Verified ID — re-usable across employers for 12 months. Workers pay nothing; employers pay to access.

05

Compliance & audit logs

Every check is timestamped, consent-logged and retained per DPDP norms. Enterprise customers get a compliance dashboard they can hand to auditors — a defensible reason to pay a premium.

Revenue streams

Three compounding phases.

Year 1 (2026)

Consumer launch

  • Per-check fees from individual homeowners
  • Tenant verification packs for landlords
  • Driver and maid pre-screening
  • Early SMB pilots with housing societies
Years 2–3

API + marketplace

  • Volume API contracts with gig platforms
  • White-label verification for HR-tech vendors
  • Subscription packs for property managers
  • Verified passport renewal fees
Years 3–5

Compliance moat

  • Enterprise BGV competing with AuthBridge / IDfy
  • DPDP audit and compliance retainers
  • Cross-sell to BIDUA Maids, Naploo staff onboarding
  • Government and PSU tender business

Competitive landscape

Who else is here — and why we're different.

01 AuthBridge Enterprise BGV: Largest Indian incumbent. Expensive and slow for consumer use cases.
02 IDfy API-first KYC/BGV: Strong with fintechs. Limited consumer presence.
03 MyGate / NoBroker BGV add-ons Adjacent platforms: Bundled checks for housing societies. Shallow depth, no field visits.
What BIDUA does differently
  • Consumer-grade UX with enterprise-grade data sources.
  • 48-hour SLA — not 5–10 days.
  • Transparent rupee pricing visible before sign-up.
  • Portable Verified Passport reduces re-verification friction for workers and employers alike.

Risks & mitigation

What can go wrong — and how we plan for it.

Risk 1

False negatives / database gaps

Mitigation: Multi-source cross-match (Aadhaar + PAN + police + court) and a clearly-disclosed confidence score on every report.

Risk 2

DPDP and consent compliance

Mitigation: Explicit candidate consent capture, audit logs, deletion workflows and an in-house DPO from day one.

Risk 3

Field-agent fraud

Mitigation: Geo-tagged photos, randomised QA visits, biometric agent check-in, and zero cash handling.

Risk 4

Race to the bottom on price

Mitigation: Verified Passport creates network effects; enterprise compliance tier protects margins even if consumer pricing compresses.

Risk 5

Reputational damage from a single high-profile miss

Mitigation: Insurance backing for verified placements, clear disclaimers, conservative confidence scoring.

Common questions

Questions partners and investors actually ask.

How fast is a typical check?

Basic checks complete inside 30 minutes when the candidate cooperates with face + liveness on their phone. Standard and Premium tiers including field visits target a 48-hour SLA.

Is candidate consent mandatory?

Yes. Every check requires a digitally-signed consent screen from the candidate before any database lookup happens. Logs are retained per DPDP.

What if a candidate refuses verification?

We do not run any check without consent. The employer simply sees a 'consent not provided' status and decides accordingly.

Can you find criminal history across states?

We search the National Crime Records Bureau public databases plus eCourts records across the states we cover. Coverage and completeness are clearly disclosed on every report.

Do you offer re-verification?

Yes — the Verified Passport is valid for 12 months and can be refreshed at a discounted price.

Is this only for big companies?

No. The product is built consumer-first. A single homeowner verifying one maid is our core use case.

How accurate is the face match?

We use a combination of UIDAI e-KYC photo, live selfie and PAN photo. Match confidence is reported as a percentage on the final document, never as a binary pass/fail.

Will the worker see the report?

Workers see a summary and can dispute factual errors. Detailed reports go only to the consenting employer.
