Bicycle Restoration & Services
Eighty million Indians own a bicycle. Almost no one services one properly. We're building the workshop chain that does.
India is the second-largest bicycle market in the world by volume, selling roughly 15 million units a year. Despite that, organised servicing is almost non-existent — most repairs happen at unbranded street-side shops that have not modernised in two generations, and high-end cyclists fly their bikes to Bangalore or Pune for any serious work.
BIDUA Industries plans to build a network of clean, professionally-run bicycle restoration and service centres — covering everything from a daily-commuter Hero cycle to vintage Raleigh and BSA restorations to modern Trek/Giant carbon road bikes. Add a customisation studio, a spares marketplace and a cycling community hub on top.
If validated, this is not just a service business — it is the trusted touchpoint that India's emerging premium-cycling segment is missing. Margins on customisation, vintage restoration and high-end servicing dwarf simple repair work.
Every Indian city has a Tesla showroom but no place to get a Hero Ranger fixed properly. The bicycle is the most-owned vehicle in the country — and the most neglected.
The opportunity, on its own terms.
Premium cycling is exploding in metros.
Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and Gurgaon now have 100k+ enthusiasts each owning bikes priced ₹50k-5L. They have nowhere clean and trustworthy to service them.
E-bikes are arriving fast.
EMotorad, Hero Lectro, Nexzu and others sell ~3L electric cycles a year in India. These need specialised servicing — battery, motor, controller — that no neighbourhood shop can handle.
Vintage restoration is a global trend.
Indian Raleigh, BSA, Hercules and Atlas bicycles from the 60s-80s are appreciating fast as collectibles. A market exists — there is no one organised serving it.
Health and city policy tailwinds.
Post-Covid cycling boom, dedicated cycle tracks in 25+ Indian cities, and corporate wellness programmes are pushing demand. The supporting service infrastructure has not caught up.
Sized in three rings.
- Premium service: ₹2,500-8,000 per detailed service on a road/MTB cycle.
- Vintage restoration: ₹25,000-1,50,000 per restored cycle.
- E-bike battery + motor servicing: ₹3,000-15,000 per visit.
- Custom builds: ₹50,000-3,00,000 per build for enthusiasts.
How it works, end to end.
Hub workshops
Clean, 800-1500 sqft workshops in metro and tier-1 cities. Trained mechanics, modern tools, frame jigs, wheel-truing stands. Transparent service menus with photo updates to the customer.
Vintage restoration studio
Specialist craftsmen at a central facility (likely Ludhiana — India's cycle manufacturing capital) handling Raleigh, BSA, Hercules, Atlas and modern restomod builds. Sourcing vintage parts globally.
Customisation & bike fitting
Static bike-fitting station, custom paint, hand-built wheels, frame painting and decal work. Margins 40-60% on customisation versus 15-20% on basic repair.
Spares & accessories e-commerce
Online store for genuine and high-quality compatible spares — currently impossible to find locally for many premium brands. Ships from a central warehouse, services partner workshops as well.
Community & events
Workshop locations double as Sunday-morning ride-start points, repair clinics, and BIDUA-organised group rides. Builds loyalty and lowers customer acquisition cost.
Three compounding phases.

What can go wrong — and how we plan for it.
Low ticket size for basic servicing
Mitigation: Volume + subscriptions for daily commuters. Real margin comes from premium, vintage and e-bike work.
Skilled mechanic shortage in India
Mitigation: Run a 6-month BIDUA Cycle Academy at Ludhiana. Train and retain mechanics on a 2-year bond.
Real-estate cost in metros
Mitigation: Workshop format optimised for first-floor / basement spaces. Pickup-and-drop reduces walk-in dependence.
Vintage parts sourcing is unpredictable
Mitigation: Build a global sourcing desk and inventory bank. Take customer deposits before committing to vintage restoration projects.
Premium cycling market is still small
Mitigation: Daily-commuter and e-bike servicing form the base load. Premium and vintage are margin layers, not the base.

naploo.comQuestions partners and investors actually ask.
Will you service my regular Hero/Hercules cycle?
Yes. Daily-commuter servicing is the base load of the business — clean, transparent, fixed-price packages.
Do you work on e-bikes?
That is one of the core specialisations. We will handle motor, controller and battery diagnostics for EMotorad, Hero Lectro, Nexzu and other major Indian e-bike brands.
Can you restore my grandfather's old Raleigh?
Yes — vintage restoration is one of our differentiators. We give a written estimate, take a deposit, and ship the bike to our Ludhiana studio.
How long does a restoration take?
Typically 6-12 weeks depending on parts availability. Vintage Raleigh and BSA parts often need to be sourced from the UK or custom-fabricated.
Where will you open first?
First flagship is targeted for Pune or Bangalore in Q1 2027 — both have dense premium cycling communities.
Will you sell new cycles?
Not initially. We focus on service, restoration and customisation. Selling new cycles is a possible later move once the brand is established.
Is there a membership?
Planned — an annual subscription covering 2 full services, doorstep pickup and 10% off accessories.
Get your cycle the service it actually deserves.
We are scoping pilot workshops in Pune and Bangalore. Riders, club organisers and vintage-bike owners — we want to talk to you.
