The Chassis Number Scratch Machine is a portable, battery-or-mains powered dot-peen engraver with a 6 mm engraving depth on hardened automotive steel, a 30-character buffer, and a touchscreen UI that pre-loads VIN sequences. It is the kind of unglamorous industrial tool that makes ₹100 crore by being the default.

What materials can it engrave?
Hardened automotive steel, aluminium chassis, mild steel and most cast-iron components. Effective up to 6 mm depth on standard chassis steel.
Is it portable?
Yes — the unit weighs ~9 kg and has a 4-hour Li-ion battery. It can be carried to any bay or even outdoor RTO yards.
Does it meet CMVR norms?
Yes — engraving depth, character size and font are configurable to CMVR-2024 specifications and BH-series RTO requirements.
What is the throughput?
~60 seconds per 17-character VIN at standard depth. Faster at lower depth for inventory marking.
How long do stylus tips last?
