Mosquito Repellent with Hidden Camera
A mosquito repellent that also keeps an eye on the room — without ever looking like a camera.
Every Indian household with mosquitoes has a plug-in repellent already. Every household with a security worry is considering a camera. BIDUA's Mosquito Repellent with Hidden Camera merges the two — a Good Knight-style plug-in vapouriser with an integrated 1080p Wi-Fi security camera, app-controlled, that records to local SD or BIDUA Hosting cloud.
The device is deliberately ordinary-looking. Visually it is indistinguishable from any other mosquito repellent — the camera lens is recessed behind a frosted IR-pass window. For homeowners that translates to a security camera that burglars won't think to look for, in a location (wall socket near the door, hallway, child's bedroom) where conventional cameras feel intrusive.
Status is idea. The repellent chemistry is licensed from an established Indian manufacturer (the same prallethrin formulation used in mainstream brands). The camera, Wi-Fi and app stack is shared with our other connected-device roadmap.
Dengue cases doubled in Indian cities between 2019 and 2024. Burglaries rose too. We don't believe homeowners should have to choose which problem to solve with which gadget — both can live inside the same plug.
The opportunity, on its own terms.
Vector-borne disease load is rising.
India recorded over 290,000 dengue cases in 2023 — double the 2019 number. Mosquito repellents are now a year-round product in most metros, not a monsoon-only purchase.
Smart-home cameras are mainstream.
Mi, Realme and CP Plus together sold 6M+ Wi-Fi cameras in India in 2024. Awareness and price expectations are well established — buyers know what ₹2,500 should buy them.
Privacy concerns push subtle form factors.
Indian families are uncomfortable with obvious cameras in living spaces but worry about elder-care, child-monitoring and door-watching. A device hiding in plain sight solves the social friction.
MHA and consumer-safety guidance.
Government safety advisories explicitly recommend home monitoring for senior citizens living alone — a use case that obvious wall-mounted cameras don't serve well.
Sized in three rings.
- Plug-in repellent installed base: 80M+ Indian homes.
- Wi-Fi camera installed base: ~24M Indian homes, growing fast.
- Average refill spend: ₹150/month — recurring revenue per device.
- Elder-care monitoring: ~45M Indians aged 60+ living independently.
How it works, end to end.

Who else is here — and why we're different.
- Only Indian device combining a legitimate CIB-registered repellent with a BIS-certified, IT Rules-compliant camera.
- Recurring-refill economics are stronger than pure-play smart cameras — the device gets used daily, not just when an alarm trips.
- Hardware LED indicator that lights when recording is active — designed for legal, ethical use only.
- BIDUA Hosting backend keeps user video data inside Indian borders for full regulatory compliance.
What can go wrong — and how we plan for it.
Privacy regulation and IT Rules 2021 compliance
Mitigation: Mandatory recording LED, opt-in cloud storage, clear retail labelling, KYC at activation. Legal review at every product milestone.
Misuse as covert surveillance
Mitigation: Hardware LED cannot be disabled. Default firmware disables recording until owner completes activation with KYC. Channel restricted to verified retailers.
Refill supply chain
Mitigation: Dual-source the prallethrin formulation. Standard cartridge geometry so manufacturing isn't single-vendor locked.
Repellent efficacy variation
Mitigation: Use the same CIB-approved formulation as mainstream brands. Field-tested across 10 climatic zones during beta.
Power cuts disabling the camera
Mitigation: 60-minute battery backup on the camera section. Notifies the owner via app when grid power is lost.

biduapods.comQuestions partners and investors actually ask.
Is the camera legal to use?
Yes — for owner-monitored use of one's own home or premises with consent of co-occupants. Recording in shared housing without consent is prohibited and the device firmware enforces a recording LED at all times.
Does it use the same chemistry as Good Knight?
Yes — CIB-registered prallethrin formulation, the same active ingredient used by most mainstream Indian brands.
Where is the video stored?
Locally on a microSD card by default. The optional cloud plan stores clips encrypted on BIDUA Hosting servers inside India.
What if power goes out?
Built-in 60-minute battery backup keeps the camera live. The repellent function requires AC power and resumes when grid power returns.
How loud is the device?
Silent. There is no fan — the vapouriser uses passive heating, and the camera has no moving parts.
Does it work with Alexa and Google Home?
Yes. The companion app integrates with Alexa, Google Home and the BIDUA Hosting smart-home dashboard.
Will the refill fit my existing repellent?
No. The cartridge geometry is BIDUA-specific to ensure chemistry and electronics safety. The 3-pack at ₹399 is comparable to brand-name refill pricing.
Pre-register for the beta.
300 Indian households will get a free device for the Q4 2027 beta. We want feedback on chemistry, camera quality and app reliability before the public launch.
