Overview

Virtual RDP is BIDUA's cloud desktop business — fully managed Windows and Linux virtual machines, accessible from any device, billed by the hour or month. Think AWS WorkSpaces or Shadow.tech, but priced for the Indian market and integrated into the BIDUA Hosting infrastructure already operating in Indian data centres.

The use cases are concrete: a freelance developer in Indore who needs an AWS-region-pinned Linux box, an architecture firm in Pune that needs short-burst Windows machines for rendering, a BPO in Chennai that wants to ship a thousand desktops without buying a thousand laptops, an animation studio that needs GPU instances on demand for After Effects.

BIDUA Hosting already operates the underlying cloud capacity for Indian customers — Virtual RDP is the productised, self-service desktop layer on top of it. It is an idea-stage project as of 2026, with a target launch through BIDUA Hosting in 2027.

Every Indian developer who has ever bought a laptop they didn't really need was buying compute they could have rented by the hour. Virtual RDP turns the desktop into a utility — pay for what you use, never patch a driver again.

Why now

The opportunity, on its own terms.

01

Remote work is structural, not cyclical.

India will have 12M+ remote and hybrid workers by 2028. Most are working from laptops they bought once and can no longer upgrade.

02

AWS / Azure are too complex for individuals.

The hyperscalers are excellent for engineering teams but punishing for a freelancer who just needs a Windows box for two days.

03

Data localisation regulation favours Indian providers.

DPDP Act and RBI's data-localisation guidance make India-hosted compute structurally attractive for Indian enterprises.

04

GPU shortage is permanent.

Generative-AI demand has made GPU rental a high-margin product class — and Indian customers are price-elastic enough to migrate from foreign providers if pricing is right.

Market opportunity

Sized in three rings.

Total addressable
USD 16B by 2030
Global DaaS market
CAGR ~22%
Serviceable
~₹4,500 cr expected by 2030
Indian cloud-desktop opportunity
Driven by BPO, education, dev tooling
BIDUA share aim
~₹120 cr ARR potential
BIDUA Virtual RDP 2030 target
If validated — sub-3% of Indian DaaS
  • AWS WorkSpaces starts at ~₹2,000/month per user — Indian SMBs price-cap at ₹1,000.
  • Indian developer base crossed 7M in 2024, growing 13% annually — largest after the US.
  • Indian animation, VFX and architecture studios spend ~₹3,000 cr/year on workstation compute.
  • BPO industry employs 4.5M Indians, most on company-issued desktops — DaaS is a hardware-replacement TAM.

Business model

How it works, end to end.

01

Pre-configured desktops

Templates for common use cases — Developer (VS Code, Docker, Node), Designer (Adobe CC, Figma), BPO Agent (browser + Zoho/Salesforce), Trader (terminals, MetaTrader). One-click provision.

02

Hourly + monthly billing

Hourly billing for individuals (₹15-60/hr depending on tier). Monthly committed pricing for enterprise. Auto-pause when idle so users don't pay for nothing.

03

GPU tier

GPU-backed instances for animation, video editing, ML training and CAD. Priced at a steep discount to AWS / Azure GPU instances.

04

Enterprise DaaS

Bulk provisioning, AD/SSO integration, persistent profiles, MDM compliance. Replaces laptop fleets for BPOs, KPOs and dev-centric SMBs.

05

BIDUA Hosting integration

Runs on existing BIDUA Hosting capacity. Margin compounds because we own the underlying infra — we are not reselling AWS.

Revenue streams

Three compounding phases.

Year 1

Self-serve launch

  • Hourly Windows / Linux RDP
  • Monthly fixed-spec plans
  • Add-on storage & bandwidth
  • Prepaid wallet top-ups
Year 2–3

Enterprise & GPU

  • Enterprise DaaS contracts
  • GPU instance hourly billing
  • Persistent profiles & golden images
  • Managed-AD add-on
Year 4+

Platform

  • Marketplace for pre-baked images
  • DaaS for education (NEP-aligned)
  • Government-cloud variant (MeghRaj-aligned)
  • White-label DaaS for ISVs

Timeline

Patient cadence, deliberate steps.

  1. Q2 2027
Beta launch on BIDUA Hosting infrastructure with Windows + Ubuntu templates.
  2. Q4 2027
GA launch with self-serve billing, 5 pre-configured templates and hourly pricing.
  3. Q2 2028
Enterprise plan with AD/SSO, MDM and persistent profiles.
  4. 2029
GPU tier launches. Animation, VFX and ML use cases onboarded.
  5. 2030
    Government-cloud variant (data-localised, MeitY-empanelled).
  6. 2031
₹120 cr ARR target. Profitable at unit-economics level.

Competitive landscape

Who else is here — and why we're different.

01 AWS WorkSpaces / Azure Virtual Desktop Hyperscaler DaaS: Best-in-class infra. Complex to provision. India pricing not localised.
02 Shadow.tech / Paperspace Consumer / pro cloud desktop: Great UX. No India presence. Latency issues for Indian users.
03 Indian VPS providers (E2E, Tata, Sify) Local IaaS: Strong on raw VPS. Weak on managed-desktop experience and self-serve hourly billing.
What BIDUA does differently
  • India-localised pricing — hourly tiers tuned to freelancer and SMB budgets.
  • Pre-configured templates eliminate the AWS-style setup friction.
  • Data-localised in Indian DCs — meets DPDP Act and RBI guidelines out of the box.
  • Integrated with BIDUA Hosting — we own the silicon, not reselling someone else's.

Risks & mitigation

What can go wrong — and how we plan for it.

Risk 1

GPU capex commitment

Mitigation: Phased GPU rollout. Mix of owned and leased GPU capacity. Demand-validate before each capex tranche.

Risk 2

Hyperscaler price war

Mitigation: Compete on India-localised pricing, support and pre-configured templates — not raw infra cost.

Risk 3

Latency in remote regions

Mitigation: Multi-region deployment across BIDUA Hosting POPs. Eventually edge POPs in Tier-2 cities.

Risk 4

Software licensing complexity (Windows, Adobe)

Mitigation: SPLA agreements with Microsoft. Adobe VIP for marketplace add-ons. Transparent pricing pass-through.

Risk 5

Churn from infrequent users

Mitigation: Auto-pause idle VMs. Prepaid wallets. Reactivation campaigns for dormant accounts.

Common questions

Questions partners and investors actually ask.

How is this different from AWS or Azure?

Simpler, cheaper for Indian users, fully self-serve in 90 seconds, no learning curve. Hyperscalers are great if you have a cloud team — we serve everyone else.

Can I use it for gaming?

Not officially in v1. The GPU tier is positioned for creative and ML workloads. Cloud gaming is a future module.

Where is my data stored?

Indian data centres only — currently Mumbai and Bengaluru. We are DPDP Act-aligned and pursuing MeitY empanelment for the government tier.

What happens if I lose connection?

Your session is preserved. Reconnect from any device and pick up where you left off. Persistent profiles available on paid tiers.

Is there a free tier?

Beta users get 50 hours free. Post-GA we are evaluating a permanent 10-hour/month free tier.

Does it support Adobe / AutoCAD / SAP?

Yes — pre-configured templates ship with major Adobe, CAD and ERP applications. BYOL also supported.

What's the SLA?

99.95% uptime SLA on monthly plans. Credits issued automatically for any breach, no ticket required.
