Overview

India has the world's cheapest mobile data and one of its highest powerbank attach rates — yet the average traveller still carries a separate powerbank, a separate Jio/Airtel 5G hotspot, and a separate emergency torch. BIDUA's Wireless Powerbank with 5G Dongle collapses that bag of accessories into a single 20,000 mAh slab the size of a paperback.

The product targets the intersection of three Indian behaviours: heavy mobile data use, frequent intercity travel, and growing demand for personal security. It carries a 5G-capable WiFi 6 hotspot, Qi-standard wireless charging pad, two USB-C PD ports, a recessed front-facing pinhole camera for opt-in motion-recording, a side-mounted emergency LED light, and a half-duplex push-to-talk speakerphone for hands-free calling.

Status today is concept and bill-of-materials. We are in the validation phase — confirming radio certification routes through WPC and DoT, sourcing 5G modem reference designs from MediaTek and Quectel, and refining the industrial design with a Noida-based ODM partner before committing tooling capital.

Most gadgets solve one problem and add three cables. The point of this product is to remove four devices from the bag without making the fifth one heavier than the sum of them.

Why now

The opportunity, on its own terms.

01

5G rollout has reached tier-2 cities.

Reliance Jio and Airtel together cover 90%+ of India's urban population on 5G by mid-2026 — but most mid-range phones still throttle on indoor signal. An external 5G dongle with a better antenna is now genuinely useful, not a gimmick.

02

Powerbank category is commoditised.

Generic 20,000 mAh banks sell for ₹999 on Flipkart. Margins are gone. The only way to defend pricing is to add features that justify a 4–5× premium, and connectivity + safety are the two features Indian buyers will actually pay for.

03

Personal safety devices are a growth category.

Post-2023 women's-safety mandates from MHA have created retail demand for discreet recording and emergency-light devices. A dual-use product avoids the stigma of carrying a dedicated safety gadget.

04

Make in India PLI for telecom hardware.

The PLI 2.0 scheme for telecom and networking products gives 4–6% incentives on incremental sales for domestic manufacturers. A 5G-dongle-equipped device qualifies under the wireless-equipment category.

Market opportunity

BIDUA 2028 target (if validated)
~50,000 units · ₹7k ASP
  • Powerbank category alone: 80M+ units sold in India in 2024 (IDC).
  • Mobile hotspots: ~6M units / year, dominated by JioFi, Airtel Xstream Pro.
  • Hidden-camera + safety gadgets: small but fast-growing, ₹600 cr in 2024.
  • Wireless charging accessories: ₹900 cr, growing 28% YoY as iPhones and premium Androids standardise.

Business model

How it works, end to end.

01

Hardware sales — D2C and marketplaces

Primary revenue through biduapods.com, Amazon, Flipkart and Croma. ₹6,999 MRP with 38% gross margin after BOM, certification amortisation and channel cuts.

02

Telecom-bundled SKU

Co-branded variant for Jio and Airtel Business with pre-activated SIM and annual data plan. Operator subsidises ₹1,000 in exchange for SIM lock to their network for 12 months.

03

Cloud storage subscription

Recording feature streams encrypted clips to BIDUA Hosting infrastructure. ₹99/month for 30-day retention. Recurring revenue layered on top of one-time hardware sale.

04

Enterprise / fleet variant

Logistics companies, field-service teams and security agencies buy in bulk. Same hardware, MDM-locked firmware and central dashboard. ASP rises to ₹9,500 with 3-year service contract.

Revenue streams

Three compounding phases.

2026 — Validate

Prototype

  • ODM partnership fees

  • Amazon and Flipkart marketplace
  • Telco-bundled co-brand SKU
  • Cloud-storage subscription
2028+ — Scale

Enterprise

Competitive landscape

Who else is here — and why we're different.

01 JioFi / Airtel Xstream Pro Telco-bundled hotspot: Strong distribution but single-purpose. No charging, no safety features.
02 Mi / boAt powerbanks Commodity powerbank: Massive scale, razor-thin margin. No connectivity layer.
03 Anker / Belkin premium chargers Imported premium: Strong wireless charging but no India-tuned 5G modem and 30%+ duty disadvantage.
What BIDUA does differently
  • Only Indian-made device combining 5G hotspot + wireless charging + safety features in one chassis.
  • Optional cloud-recording subscription creates recurring revenue alongside the hardware sale.
  • BIDUA Hosting backbone keeps user video data inside Indian borders — a compliance win for enterprise.
  • Telco partnerships unlock subsidised distribution that pure-play powerbank brands cannot match.

Risks & mitigation

What can go wrong — and how we plan for it.

Risk 1

Hidden-camera feature triggers privacy backlash

Mitigation: Front-facing only, requires physical slider to expose lens, recording LED is hardware-wired and cannot be disabled in software. Compliance review under IT Rules 2021.

Risk 2

5G modem cost volatility

Mitigation: Dual-source between MediaTek and Quectel. Negotiated rolling 6-month price locks. Fallback 4G+ SKU at ₹4,999 if 5G BOM stays high.

Risk 3

Certification delays (WPC, BIS, DoT)

Mitigation: Engage certified test lab early in EVT. Budget 9-month buffer in the launch timeline. Modular RF design lets us swap modems without re-certifying entire device.

Risk 4

Battery safety / airline restrictions

Mitigation: 20,000 mAh keeps us under the 100 Wh airline carry-on limit. BIS IS 16046 compliance from day one. UL listing for export markets.

Risk 5

Feature bloat hurts pricing

Mitigation: Two-SKU strategy from launch — a stripped Lite at ₹4,999 and the full 7-in-1 at ₹6,999. Lets the market choose.

Common questions

Questions partners and investors actually ask.

Will it work with any SIM?

Yes — the dongle is unlocked by default. The telco-bundled SKU is the only locked variant, and only for the first 12 months.

Is the camera always-on?

No. The lens is physically covered by a slider. Recording requires the slider to be open and the user to tap-confirm in the app. A hardware LED is always lit while recording.

How fast is wireless charging?

15 W Qi2 — fast enough for iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung S24 to reach 50% in roughly 35 minutes.

Where is it manufactured?

Final assembly in Noida by BIDUA Industries. PCB and modem from approved Tier-1 ODM partner. Eligible for Make in India PLI.

What is the warranty?

12 months on the full device, 6 months on the battery. Doorstep replacement in 30 Indian cities through our service partner.

Does the recording need a subscription?

Local storage to a microSD card is free forever. The encrypted cloud-backup tier is ₹99/month for 30-day retention.

Is it airline-safe?

Yes — 20,000 mAh is well under the 100 Wh IATA carry-on limit. Always carry it in cabin baggage, never in checked-in luggage.

Get involved

Pilot the device before it ships.

We are recruiting 200 beta users for the closed pilot in Q3 2027 — couriers, field journalists, sales reps and frequent travellers. Honest feedback in exchange for free hardware.
